Is There A Hell?

So, the question was asked is there a hell? Well, let's see here. If you believe in heaven, you know there's a hell; they are the ying or yin and yang, as they say. Our sole goal is to avoid hell, which we accomplish by repenting and asking for forgiveness on a daily basis. You want to stay on the straight and narrow. So with that, let's see what we can come up with here.

You can research all day, and everyone has their own idea of what hell is, so as a Christian, you must hold to what the Bible says, not your own idea of what it is, because you don't want to end up there.

What Is Hell - What is the real meaning of hell?

: a place or state of misery, torment, or wickedness.

Here's a couple of verses there's more at the bottom of this page the last link:

Revelation 21:8  Matthew 25:46

In religion and folklore, hell is a location or state in the afterlife in which evil souls are subjected to punitive suffering, most often through torture, as eternal punishment after death. Religions with a linear divine history often depict hells as eternal destinations, the biggest examples of which are Christianity and Islam, whereas religions with reincarnation usually depict a hell as an intermediary period between incarnations, as is the case in the dharmic religions. Religions typically locate hell in another dimension or under Earth's surface. Other afterlife destinations include heaven, paradise, purgatory, limbo, and the underworld.

What religions believe in Hell?

Other religions, which do not conceive of the afterlife as a place of punishment or reward, merely describe an abode of the dead, the grave, a neutral place that is located under the surface of Earth (for example, see Kur, Hades, and Sheol). Such places are sometimes equated with the English word hell, though a more correct translation would be "underworld" or "world of the dead". The ancient Mesopotamian, Greek, Roman, and Finnic religions include entrances to the underworld from the land of the living.

Among other non-Christians, however, beliefs that there are places of eternal reward and punishment after death are not as widely held. Roughly half or fewer of Hindus, Buddhists and Jews believe in heaven. And roughly a third or less of Buddhists, Hindus, and Jews believe in the concept of hell.

What is hell in Bible?

In Christian theology, Hell is the place or state into which, by God's definitive judgment, unrepentant sinners pass in the general judgment, or, as some Christians believe, immediately after death (particular judgment).

What is hell according to Jesus?

But these passages are not actually referring to “hell.” The word Jesus uses is “Gehenna.” The term does not refer to a place of eternal torment but to a notorious valley just outside the walls of Jerusalem, believed by many Jews at the time to be the most unholy, god-forsaken place on earth.

Sadly some people's only idea of hell is from Dante or a Dan Brown Book or Movie!

Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy is considered an epic masterpiece and a foundational work of the Western canon. We offer this short guide to the nine circles of Hell, as described in Dante's Inferno. The first circle is home to the unbaptized and virtuous pagans.

O and don't believe everything you see or read in a Dan Brown book or movie it's all fiction with just enough to mess with you.

So you have a ultimate source for answers it's called the BIBLE.
